When branding adapts to the era of sustainable development.

The challenges of ecodesign
Local production and the promotion of the manufacturing process are at the heart of the organization's mission. Kotmo aims to educate its target audience by highlighting all the employees behind the production of an object. Revolutionizing the perception of promotional items through its business model has become its primary goal. It positions itself as an eco-responsible company, thanks to its choice of materials that are either sustainable, certified, recycled, or compostable, as well as its Bcorp certification, which attests to this. All suppliers are also required to reduce their packaging as much as possible upon delivery. Customers must therefore agree to receive their new products in recycled packaging that is sometimes perceived as worn, recognizing the ecological benefits of this choice.

Branding as a tool for positive impact
Modernizing doesn't just mean changing your branding; it also means reviewing all your practices to align with your values. Its new brand image was restored by the Superwise design studio in Montreal. To begin, Kotmo chose to change its typography to one created by a local company, FEED. When printed, the writing alternates between an outline and a filled style, to minimize ink use as much as possible. To spread a positive influence, the company communicates its values through several communication tools.

Ecodesign down to packaging
Each design of the new branding was conceived to reduce material production. That's why Kotmo began by changing its product explanatory boxes to seeded paper, which can be used to grow seeds. All its business cards were subsequently replaced with paper made from recycled cotton and letterpress printed with recovered ink. Each shipping box is printed with a minimalist design on unbleached corrugated paper, and the object is put to optimal use. The adhesive tape was also changed to a water-activated kraft strip, making it recyclable. Even bubble wrap was banned in favor of a roll of recyclable packaging cardboard, which is just as effective at protecting objects. Finally, following the completion of a project, the client receives a report by email, personalized to the company, explaining all the positive social, economic, and environmental impacts that their choice has generated.

The Quebec company, founded four years ago, continues to grow and never loses hope of influencing this currently highly polluting industry. Established in the B2B space, it aspires to develop new strategies to reach major players in the business world.
