Montreal, October 22, 2020. Kotmo, a company specializing in sustainable and local promotional items, is rolling out a new strategy adapted to the critical situation of our economy and our society's need for social interaction. Since October 15, it has been offering a gift box service consisting of eight products with the aim of reviving Quebec manufacturing and diversifying production. With this project, Kotmo brings together more than five Quebec manufacturers, four illustrators and designers, as well as other local collaborators. This line was designed with inspiration from the human relationships essential to building our society.
Collaborate to create
Everything was done with a focus on eco-responsibility, originality, and efficiency. Each player was carefully selected with the aim of offering the best local quality to their audience. “We brought together different manufacturers, some with whom we work regularly and new collaborations, to create and produce objects that would make sense during this pandemic. This product range represents the collaborative work of companies that not only have the desire to make a difference, but who want to do so in accordance with the principles of sustainable development in a human context,” explains Céline Juppeau, founder of Kotmo.
A first for the company, the collaboration with four talented illustrators to explore the graphic image of this range. Catherine d'Amours, Aless MC, Alice Picard, and Alina Herta enthusiastically accepted to embark on this new adventure: "This is the first time I've been asked to design an object, and I'm very happy that it's an object designed in an eco-responsible way. I'm very happy to be working with Alice, Catherine, and Alina, and I couldn't wait to see the fruit of our collaboration," explains Aless MC. These artists each created illustrations that adorn a pack of coasters, wall posters, and a deck of cards that represent the fruit of their collaboration. Despite their different styles, they managed to combine their imaginations to create a brand image specific to this product range.
Objects designed and manufactured in Quebec
Kotmo aims to go beyond local manufacturing. It seeks to educate, reduce, and become the link between each stakeholder in a supply chain. Each object was chosen with the goal of fostering social interaction at home. The intention behind their development was to reflect a warm and festive atmosphere. This corporate gift set includes a cookie cutter, a set of three candle holders, a chocolate duo made in collaboration with the company État de Choc, three illustrated posters, a pack of four coasters, a pair of slippers, a deck of illustrated cards, and a pair of socks, offering a double gift, with the second pair donated to Accueil Bonneau.
Mutual aid & inclusion
Through this line, Kotmo aims to share its values: the importance of a society based on collaboration, mutual aid, diversity, inclusion, and equity. It collaborates with two social reintegration companies, among others, for the design of the slippers and the assembly of the gift boxes. The raw materials were evaluated to have the least possible impact on our planet and the most positive possible impact on our local economy. "With these products, we want to give Quebec companies the opportunity to bring a little comfort to their teams and customers during these difficult times while being responsible. It is often said that buying is voting, in this case, offering one of these products is clearly supporting the local economy, encouraging social reintegration companies, showcasing Quebec's creative talent, and demonstrating one's interest in sustainable development," says Cindy Couture, partner at Kotmo.
In pursuit of its mission to educate about local manufacturing, it is presenting a series of capsules, under the name Composantes, to illustrate all the work behind a range of local products. The company is already receiving several requests from its clients to find an alternative to the many events and gatherings of the fall season that have been canceled. Team lunches, brainstorms, conferences, activities, strategic retreats, and holiday evenings allow teams to strengthen ties and improve synergy between everyone. The object will never replace this feeling of comfort, but can, as best it can, encourage sharing and convey the message of a united society.
